Ahhh,
the sweet sound of rolling thunder from a March Spring thunderstorm. Who would
have thought with the way winter began that we would be starting spring off like
this. The recent rains should have the grass off to a nice start by the time
this hits the press . I suppose they don't have presses anymore.
It is
that time of year where we are all getting anxious to swing those clubs and
awake many of the muscle groups that had gone into hibernation for the winter.
The clubhouse officially opens on Wednesday, March 25th for Men's
stag. Then the clubhouse is open this weekend and daily beginning April 1st.
For
those willing to help, there is a course clean up day on Saturday, March 28th
beginning around 10:00 am. I know some trimming of trees will be taking place
along with anything else needed to spruce the place up.
Then
the following Saturday, April 4th, we have a very busy day. First of
all a special stockholders meeting will take place at 3:00 pm in the clubhouse
to clean up some bylaw issues. Then the annual spring into golf season party
takes place that evening. We will have a potluck once again beginning at 6:00 pm
and then karaoke firing up around
9:00 pm. ALL are invited to
this social event so invite everyone you know. You do not have to be member to
come out and share a good time with your friends here in Manson and surrounding
communities.
It is not too early to be thinking about our
2 person best ball league. Yes, you heard right, 2 person league. This will be a
handicapped league once again so no matter what your skill level is please
consider joining. Membership is not required to play in league. A special green
fee of $5.00 will apply each time you play your league round. This will have the
same flexible format that seemed to go over very well last year. League will
begin the first Monday in June. I will have a sign up sheet and format
description available out at clubhouse very soon.
If you have not checked out the Manson Golf web site, please do
so. It was initially created by former board member Steve Pelz and continues to
be developed and fine tuned by George Lawman. It has just about all the
information you need to know about our course as well as other fun things such
as tournament results and photos from the 2008 season. I hope to have league
information posted to that site soon as well.
